Our Fees

At The Family Psychologist, we believe that every family should be able to access the support they need, when they need it and at a price they can afford, especially given how much life with young children can change over a matter of weeks.

In line with this, we endeavour to see all new clients within four weeks of first contact, and are usually able to offer telephone sessions within the next 24 hours. A guide to the fees we charge is laid out below:

Initial Clinical Assessment - Child, Teenager, Individual or Family (non Legal):

An initial meeting to discuss the issues and agree of a plan of action. Clinical assessment appointments last around 90 minutes, and work to ensure that the psychologist obtains a clear understanding of a family's situation and difficulties. No additional charge is made for longer assessment appointments. Our Fee includes an assessment report which will be used as a road map for our intervention.
£ 150 per initial assessment

On-going Therapy Sessions - Child, Teenager, Individual or Family:

Following a clinical assessment, families may continue to work with their psychologist on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Depending on their situation and the difficulties brought to session, families may choose to attend for anything from a single session to many sessions spread over a number of years, although the usual is between 6 and 10 individual sessions. Sessions last around 60 minutes. Please see our Child Psychology section for further details.
£80-100 per hour (depending on requirement)

On-going Baby & Toddler Parent Support:

For parents of the youngest children, we also offer the option of baby and toddler support. These sessions are appropriate where a parent wants to focus on specific early childhood issues; bedtimes and sleep, temper tantrums or potty training, for example. Sessions can be organised to suit a young family's individual needs. Whilst one family might prefer short but frequent sessions to keep a young toddler's attention, others ask for longer, more infrequent sessions to allow for "Super Nanny" style support at bedtimes or during meals. For more information please see our Baby & Toddler page.

£80-100 per hour

Telephone or Skype Remote Session:

We recognise that there may be times when families need advice or support but do not want to travel. In this case, we offer a telephone and skype support service, allowing families to call to discuss their questions with the psychologist. This might be for top-up support between sessions, or for families who feel they are managing well, but want professional advice on a specific issue. Calls usually last around half an hour and are available during working hours, evenings and weekends. To set up a call, see our remote support page

Educational, Cognitive & Dyslexia Assessments:

We offer a Psychological and Educational assessment service. The service specialises in specific learning difficulties (dyslexia), but a general cognitive profile assessment of intelligence, attainments and other educational advice can also be given. Assessments are available for children aged 6 or above, as well as for adults. Please see our Dyslexia Diagnosis Assessments and Cognitive Assessments page for further details.
